Bonnie to Clyde

You always said we were Bonnie and Clyde.

We didn’t end with a Ford full of bullets

(Though I wish we’d put up a fight).

We didn’t die

(Though sometimes it feels like it).

Our days as partners in crime are over

(But I’d give anything for one last job).

  1. I love this poem! If I could make a tiny suggestion (take it for what it’s worth) – personally, I would remove “like” from the first line. Gives it a little more immediacy, and makes the verbiage a little smoother and more concrete without changing the meaning.
